Barcardi, a global spirits company, has surpassed annual targets in improving water use, energy efficiency and recycling rates and is on target to obtain 100 percent of sugarcane-derived products from sustainably certified sources by 2022. The company exceeded targets in improving water use efficiency by 3.2 percent and reducing greenhouse gas emission intensity by 3.7 percent, leading to a 45.4 percent increase in water use efficiency and a 32.3 percent reduction in greenhouse gas emissions intensity globally from 2006 benchmarks. Bacardi confirmed that clear action plans are in place at each of the firm’s manufacturing sites in an effort to continue to improve water use efficiency. Bacardi continued to be the only major spirits company certified to be operating in accordance with world’s recognised standards for quality, environment, and health and safety for all production facilities globally.
