Israel, known for its water management expertise, plans to more than double its Centres of Excellence in India to boost bilateral cooperation in the field of agriculture, where Israel’s drip irrigation techniques are already popular in many parts of the country. An established leader in desalination, Israel has also set a template for reusing wastewater for irrigation. It treats 80 percent of its domestic wastewater, which is recycled for agricultural use and constitutes nearly 50 percent of the total water used for agriculture. Israeli Ambassador to India Daniel Carmon, said that Israel would share its expertise in water in areas required by India and would encourage Israeli companies to work there.
