Enrique Garcia, executive president of CAF-Development Bank of Latin America, has announced the approval of immediate donations of US$100,000 to the governments of Argentina, Paraguay and Uruguay in order to support the populations affected by the heavy rains. “We want to express our solidarity with the governments and people of Argentina, Paraguay and Uruguay for the thousands of victims and significant material damages caused by the heavy rains,” said Garcia. In addition, CAF has made loans available to each country of up to US$50 million to contribute to dealing with emergencies and supporting the execution of preventive works, through the use of a regional line of credit. “This line of credit is available for extreme events resulting from climate, earthquakes, contaminating accidents and epidemics that may affect CAF shareholder countries in the region,” he said.
