The Sohar desalination plant in Oman has announced it will incorporate LG Chem’s ‘high rejection’ NanoH20 seawater reverse osmosis membranes. The membranes incorporate nanostructured materials and polymer technology which improves system efficiency and productivity and can be installed into new and existing reverse osmosis systems, purifying water from a broad range of sources. The Sohar desalination plant will produce 250 million litres of water per day and serve approximately 800,000 local Oman residents. The plant was designed by Valoriza Agua, a Spanish water technology company that has built more than 100 water treatment plants throughout Spain, Portugal, Algeria, Tunisia, Middle East, Brazil, Australia and Chile.
