The WateReuse Association, a US national trade association dedicated to advancing water recycling, has named Patricia Sinicropi as its new Executive Director effective from September.
Sinicropi, who previously served as the Senior Legislative Director for the National Association of Clean Water Agencies, has worked in federal advocacy with congress and federal agencies. From this experience she will bring knowledge in advancing the legislative, regulatory and funding priorities of wastewater utilities and related businesses.
“WateReuse has had tremendous success in increasing the use and acceptance of recycled water through our strong advocacy and education programmes,” said Guy Carpenter, President of WateReuse. “Pat is the right person at the right time to lead our action agenda.”
Sinicropi replaces Melissa Meeker, who is now the CEO of the Water Environment & Reuse Foundation (WE&RF), a research and education organisation that collaborates closely with WateReuse.
WateReuse is a water policy resource frequently used by elected officials and policymakers in all levels of government in the US. The association advocates for state and federal laws, policies and funding to advance the safe, reliable production and distribution of recycled water.
Key points from the organisation’s action plan include supporting science, investing in infrastructure, and incentivising private investment in water reuse.
The WateReuse agenda for the coming year includes investment tax credits for industrial reuse, potable reuse permitting, a national priorities research programme, as well as providing resources that guide utilities in outreach to legislators, regulators, ratepayers, and other stakeholders.
